Charing in WW1

A collection of 61 beautifully crafted display panels created especially for our 2014 WW1 exhibition.

Harold Trill’s video history of Charing

Harold Trill, a Vice-President of CDLHS, for many decades made videos of life in Charing.

A large selection of these can now be viewed on his “HAT Invicta Productions” YouTube channel.

Visit

We have produced a village trail pamphlet and we can also provide guided tours.

Charing in the Census

The society’s census group transcribed and analysed both the 1901 and the 1911 census, then merged that information with the 1910 - 1915 Valuation Office Survey to give a fuller picture of Charing at that time.

Family History

Much local history involves the history of people and how they and their families fitted into our community. While we don’t hold the main genealogical records, e.g. registers of births, marriages and deaths, we do have some data. We also have members who are interested in family history. If this is your interest take a look at our Family History Group Page.
