(giving information on land use, value and ownership)
The 1911 Census
Having completed the work on the 1901 census, in 2013, the Census Group repeated the exercise with the 1911 census for Charing and, as with the 1901 census, the transcribed 1911 census is available in a downloadable Microsoft Excel™ file by clicking on the following link:
Valuation Office Survey records
Also, we were very fortunate that Dr Bridgett Jones volunteered to transcribe all the Charing area 1910-1915 Valuation Office Survey records for us. This triggered, in 2014, a further project to identify the current addresses of the buildings listed in in the valuation survey and the 1911 census. Having done that, the information gathered was combined into a Charing WW1 Building Report, which you can view and download a copy using this link:
To make full use of the report there are three index documents you will need, plus a guide on how to use them. They can be viewed using these links:
The report and three index reports became part of the Society’s WW1 exhibition held in the summer of 2014.
